Ball Ground News June 6, 2017

Hello Ball Ground:

Our monthly meeting of Mayor and Council will be Thursday evening at 7:00 pm. Items on the agenda include the 2nd reading of our annual budget and of the proposed defined benefit plan for City Employees. Items of new business include an agreement with Georgia Probation Management, Authorizations to seek bids for construction of a Senior Citizens Center, Resolution of Support for a new grant application to assist with funding for the senior center and finally Mayor and Council will consider a declaration of surplus property for auction. (F350 Service Vehicle).

The Movie Trailer for “American Made” starring Tom Cruise was released yesterday – so check it out if you get a chance and see if you can spot the Ball Ground scenes.

Mayor Roberts and the City Council have appropriated funds for the installation of an audio system downtown. We are working with Georgia Power now to wrap up the red tape – but very soon we will have speakers installed on the power poles downtown to stream music on weekends – hopefully helping to make our downtown an even more inviting place to visit and conduct business.

Many of you may have noticed that the old fire station building on Groover Street has been removed. The design is under way now for a Senior Center that will be constructed on that site. This will be a small facility that will cater to our senior population with great support and assistance from the Cherokee County Senior Services Center. If all goes well this center could open as early as April/May 2018.

Our next event in City Park will be the movie “The Secret Life of Pets” on June 17th at dark. This will be a great night to bring out the kids…………..and your “friendly” pets to City Park and catch a movie.

Also, mark your calendars for July 1st at 9:45 PM when we will host our annual fireworks display.

Have a great week.
