The long-awaited project to enhance pedestrian access and the appearance of the downtown area has been advertised for bid in the Cherokee Tribune.  A pre-bid meeting for all interested bidders will be held at Ball Ground City Hall at 9:00 a.m. on July 9, 2008.  The bid opening will be on July 21, 2008 at 12:01 p.m., also at Ball Ground City Hall.  Following bid opening, the lowest bidder will be selected by the City and must be validated by the Georgia Department of Transportation.  Following validation, a Notice to Proceed will be issued to the contractor.  The city expects work to begin on or before September 1, 2008.  The project is expected to take nine months to complete.
