Arbor Day Tree Planting

Hello Ball Ground –

Just a reminder that tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM will be our annual Arbor Day Tree Planting.

The planting will take place in Calvin Farmer Park on Old Dawsonville Road and we encourage you to join us if you can.

We will be providing 20 Dogwood Trees to be given away on a first come first serve basis (one per resident) at the planting, so come join us, then go back home and plant one for yourself.

Take good care Ball Ground.

Update from the City Manager

Good Morning Ball Ground –

Representatives from “SunCap”, the entity seeking to rezone property along Ball Ground Highway at Sharp Mountain Creek to Light Industrial for the placement of a possible “Distribution Warehouse Facility”, will be hosting a public information meeting at the Ball Ground Senior Center, 388 Groover Street on Wednesday, February 16th, 2022 beginning at 6:30 PM.  SunCap representatives have been meeting with adjoining property owners for several weeks, and are scheduled to appear before the Cherokee County Municipal Planning Commission in March, and before the Ball Ground City Council on March 10th, 2022.  This meeting is not a City meeting, but an informational meeting with the applicants, open to all residents who would like to know more about this proposal, ask questions and see the proposed roadway improvements.

Our 2022 events calendar is at the printer now, and we are pleased to say that our summer concert series will be returning to City Park this year. Activity dates are:

April 30 BBQ & Brews Festival
May 21 Garden Club Plant Sale & Craft Show

Once the calendars come in we will distribute them to our local businesses and they will also be available at the front counter at City Hall.

Have a great day Ball Ground.

Downtown Traffic Study

Good Afternoon Ball Ground:

You may have noticed today a number of intersections in the downtown corridor being equipped with cameras and several streets with cross cables. These tools are being installed on 4 streets and 20 intersections in the downtown corridor as part of a comprehensive traffic study to help our planners gather data on vehicle counts, traffic patterns, turn data and identify peak travel times at various areas. The data will also assist us in promoting the installation of a 4-way stop intersection at Old Dawsonville Road and Gilmer Ferry Road (SR 372), as well as a crosswalk and hopeful speed limit reduction at Lantern Walk Drive and SR Bus 5.

Once collected this data will help our traffic engineers in planning for and prioritizing transportation improvements.

The data collection period will last for approximately 2 weeks as devices are moved from place to place throughout the downtown corridor.

Take good care Ball Ground.

Eric
