URGENT- Winter Weather – Solid Waste Services Update
1/9/25 – 9:30 AM
We are asking our customers to put their trash cans for pickup at curbside Thursday evening. Waste-Pro HOPES to get ahead of the storm and start collecting our routes, with every available truck, Friday morning at 5:00 AM. As soon as it starts snowing, or freezing rain, they will pull their trucks. If you have not been serviced Friday by the time they pull their trucks, please leave the containers curbside. If Saturday weather permits they will finish the route Saturday. If Saturday does not work, they will be back again on Monday.
We will make a decision late Friday as to the recycle truck availability scheduled for Saturday. If current weather predictions hold then I anticipate recycle will be cancelled. However, we aren’t pulling the trigger on that just yet.
The National Weather Service and local emergency management offices are encouraging our residents to stay off the roads once the storm arrives as travelling could be treacherous.
We will make a decision closer to storm time, but at the moment it is unlikely that City Hall will be open to walk in customers on Friday. We have the ability to work remotely and answer phones remotely so we are testing those systems today to make sure everything is working properly so can still handle the majority of customers calls/requests.
The Work Session of Mayor and City Council originally scheduled for Thursday 1/2/25 has been rescheduled to Monday 1/6/25 at 6:00 PM at City Hall Council Chambers.
A new open container alcohol district will be in effect starting January 1, 2025.
Permanent businesses located within the District that are licensed by the City to serve alcohol may apply for a permit to serve “to-go” alcohol. Customers of these permitted establishments will be allowed to carry and consume open container alcoholic beverages within the district. Beverages must be in an approved cup obtained from the establishment and the permitted times are Friday’s from 4PM to 9PM and Saturday’s from 12PM to 9PM.
