Building Department

The City of Ball Ground issues building permits for residential and commercial construction within the City Limits of Ball Ground.

Development Permits

Development plans must be submitted to the Ball Ground City Hall for all proposed developments within the City. The plans will be reviewed for compliance with all City Ordinances. The Engineering firm of Rindt McDuff and Associates (RMA) will review the plans for engineering compliance for roads, storm drains, water and sewer. Development permit fees are project specific and are assessed based on the time required for plan review, engineering review, and number of reviews required. The City of Ball Ground has adopted the Cherokee County Development Standards for roads, streets, bridges, and storm drains. The standards of the Cherokee County Water and Sewer Authority have been adopted for water and sewer construction.

Land Disturbing Permits

The City of Ball Ground is not an issuing authority. All applications for land disturbing activity (LDA) within the City limits must be submitted to the Georgia EPD. No development permits will be issued unless proof of submission to the Georgia EPD is furnished for LDA.

Building Permits

In order to obtain a building permit the applicant must submit a copy of plans and present a copy of their State License.  The water and sewer capacity fees must be paid prior to receiving a building permit. If sanitary sewer is not available within 300 feet of the property line on which a permit is being requested, then the applicant must show a septic permit from the Cherokee County Health Department prior to a building permit being issued.

Builders requesting an inspection should contact the City Hall at 770-735-2123. Every attempt will be made to provide a next day inspection service for all requests received prior to 2:00 p.m.
