Ball Ground Truck Bypass (Updated 4/7/25)

The 1.5 mile Ball Ground Truck Bypass will be a new alignment roadway to divert truck traffic away from the city center. The route will run from SR 5 to SR 369. Other vehicles will be allowed to use this route when complete. The project is expected to take about 5-10 years from start of engineering to construction completion. See below for more information.

Funding for PE awarded by ARC.  Additional funding awarded by Georgia State Assembly and Governor Kemp.

Project Status:

  • 2021: Project approved by GDOT (PI #0002525):
  • 2024: Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Inc. (VHB) has been hired to perform design and engineering services for the project.
  • 2025: In preliminary design phase. Working on NEPA required environmental field surveys. Current ROW authorization timeframe 3rd quarter 2027.
  • 2029: Proposed let date: 3rd Quarter of 2029.
